There is one question I hear more than almost any other when someone discovers Homekeeping Tonic:
“What can I actually use it for?”
The short answer is: quite a lot.
I originally created Homekeeping Tonic to be the beautiful, hardworking all-purpose cleaner I wanted sitting on my own kitchen counter. I wanted one bottle I could reach for when the kitchen needed a quick refresh, the bathroom needed attention or the coffee table was covered in fingerprints.
Then I started using it everywhere.
What began as a cleaner for the most obvious household surfaces gradually followed me from the kitchen to the bathroom, through the family room and eventually all the way out to my car.
At this point, if I could use it to wipe away the mistakes I have made in my life, I would. Unfortunately, I have not figured out that part yet. 😂
But the evidence of a child eating dinner in the backseat between dance practices?
That, we can work with.
In the Kitchen

The kitchen is where Homekeeping Tonic earns its place on the counter.
I use it for everyday messes on kitchen counters and other washable surfaces. It has also become my go-to for wiping fingerprints, crumbs and splatters from the outside of the microwave and small kitchen appliances.
Some of the places I have personally used it include:
- Kitchen counters
- Glass-top range
- Inside and outside of the microwave
- Exterior of the toaster
- Exterior of the espresso machine
- Exterior of the waffle iron
- Faucets and sinks
It is especially useful for those small marks that make a kitchen feel untidy even after the dishes have been put away: fingerprints around the microwave handle, a splash near the espresso machine or crumbs hiding beneath the toaster.
One quick wipe-down can make the entire room feel cared for again.
In the Bathroom

Homekeeping Tonic is not limited to the kitchen.
I use it on my bathroom counters, mirrors, faucets and sinks. I have also used it to wipe the top of the toilet, the lid and the outside of the basin.
These are not the dramatic cleaning jobs. They are the everyday touchpoints where fingerprints, water marks and the evidence of daily routines seem to appear almost immediately.
That is where I find an all-purpose cleaner most helpful: not tucked away for an occasional deep clean, but close enough to reach whenever the room needs a quick reset.
Throughout the Living Spaces

The family room is where Homekeeping Tonic begins to feel like more than an ordinary kitchen spray.
I have used it to clean coffee tables, end tables, dining tables and entryway tables. I have wiped down light fixtures and refreshed the ledge around my fireplace.
These are the surfaces that collect the fingerprints, dust, drink rings and little signs of a home being actively lived in.
And I do want my home to be lived in.
I simply want to be able to restore it when the day is done.
That is what homekeeping means to me. It is not maintaining a home that no one is allowed to touch. It is tending to the home you actually live in and using products that make that care feel a little more beautiful.
And, Apparently, in the Car
The car was not part of my original plan for Homekeeping Tonic.
But one day I noticed the fingerprints across the interior and the state of the backseat, where my daughter sometimes eats dinner or snacks between dance practices.
So I brought the Tonic outside.
I used it to wipe down compatible hard interior surfaces and the leather seats, paying particular attention to the places where fingerprints and everyday messes were most visible.
It worked so beautifully that the car officially became part of the list.
That unexpected usefulness is one of the reasons I love this product. Homekeeping does not stop at the rooms inside the house. Sometimes it includes the space where we spend hours driving to school, appointments, rehearsals and everything else the week requires.
One Bottle, Many Everyday Uses
Homekeeping Tonic was created to clean, but I never wanted cleaning to feel clinical.
I wanted the bottle sitting on the counter to feel at home there. I wanted the fragrance left behind to become part of the experience. And I wanted reaching for it to feel less like dragging out a collection of supplies and more like one simple act of restoring the room.
That is why I call it a Tonic.
It is the bottle I reach for when everyday life has left its fingerprints behind and I want the home to feel refreshed again.
A Note About Surfaces
The list above reflects where I have personally used Homekeeping Tonic in my own home.
As with any household cleaner, always follow the directions on the bottle, check the care instructions for the surface and test a small, inconspicuous area first. Use extra care with untreated wood, natural stone, leather, electronic screens and delicate or specialty finishes unless you have confirmed that the material is compatible.
Homekeeping Tonic is intended for cleaning compatible washable surfaces. It is not presented as a disinfectant or sanitizer.
Homekeeping Tonic for Autumn
For Autumn, Remembered, Homekeeping Tonic is available in three fragrances inspired by the season:
Old Apple Shed brings together apple, bright citrus, cedar, lavender and vetiver.
Pumpkin Pickin’ wraps roasted pumpkin, cinnamon leaf, incense, amber and vanilla bean into the feeling of an afternoon at the farm.
Cider Mill fills the room with baked apple, ginger, nutmeg and cinnamon.
The fragrance may change with the season, but the purpose remains the same: one beautiful, hardworking bottle for the everyday care of home.
Because I do not believe the products we use every day should be hidden away simply because they are practical.
They can work beautifully.
They can look beautiful in the rooms where we use them.
And they can turn the ordinary work of caring for a home into part of the art of living beautifully.
